Very
impressive set of dueling pistols in fine antique walnut case - .44
Cal. This is a very accurate old
reproduction set of dueling pistols that are totally functional! Barrel
lengths are 10 1/2 inches. Recently purchased in Germany from an antique
dealer - The style is French - Henry Lapage - and quite ornate
with many features you can no longer find in old reproductions. Each
pistol retains perfectly carved European walnut half stocks and both match
beautifully. Etched scroll work on all metal parts including barrels.
Locks are finely etched with the same beautiful work. All accessory
items are totally functional as well and have been beautifully done.
Both pistols and all accessories including the walnut case have been professionally
antiqued to look very old - Spanish proof marks galore on left side
of barrels and both pistols are consecutively serial numbered - Powder
flask is antiqued with brass fittings. Antiqued dark red velvet lined
walnut case is inlayed with brass wire with brass inscription plate top
center. Octagon barrels are fully fluted and finely etched with front
and rear sights attached. Mechanically very tight. Comes
with 44 caliber balls and percussion caps in wooden jar compartment
- and a flask full of powder! This is no doubt a rare and impressive
dueling set from Spain made probably in the 1950's. The nicest antiqued
reproduction set we have ever seen!
